Rental Guide:
Students and Chatham community members must sign the contract and enroll in “Broadcast Studio” on Brightspace before using any equipment or studio resources.
All equipment pickup/dropoff is done in person at the Broadcast Studio, which is located at the lower level of Mellon Center (across the pond). Due to high rental demands, equipment won't be held longer than the day reserved for pickup. If you'll be late to pick up the equipment or need to adjust the rental date, you are responsible for contacting the Broadcast Studio.
Students get 3 days with equipment, not including weekends.
If you check out gear on Monday, it is due by Thursday at the latest.
If you check out gear on Tuesday, it is due by Friday at the latest.
If you check out gear on Wednesday, it is due by Monday at the latest.
If you check out gear on Thursday, it is due by Tuesday at the latest.
If you check out gear on Friday, it is due by Wednesday at the latest.
After the 3-day rental period, a $10 late fee is automatically charged to the student's account for every day after the agreed return date.
Only students currently enrolled in a production class, FDT graduate thesis, related for-credit internship, or students who are on the Communique staff are permitted to use equipment.
There is an exception to enrollment requirements for equipment that is labeled for “Community Use.”
Communique staff may use photography and video equipment if they have completed or are currently enrolled in a photography or video production class and have been trained to use those specific items. Communique staff who have not had these courses must be trained by faculty or studio assistants before checking out gear.
